Bridging Baltic
South Baltic transport development review in the 10th anniversary edition of the Baltic Transport Journal

Being well-acknowledged for their thorough analyses and reports, the Baltic Transport Journal (BTJ) has become an indispensable information service for Baltic transport affairs. Every year, 15000 copies reach key transport stakeholders of the Baltic maritime, rail, road, logistics and energy sectors. September 2014 marks the 10-year anniversary of the Journal’s efforts to spot and reflect the dynamics towards a single transport market.

”The Baltic Sea region brand is still in its development phase, therefore it is important that the BTJ continues its assignment as a cohesive force pointing out the potential of the region together with its successes, failures as well as opportunities”,  said Christel Wiman, CEO of the Association of Swedish Train Operating Companies.

The BTJ shares its cohesive mission with a number of cross-border transport and sustainable mobility initiatives co-financed by the South Baltic Cross-border Cooperation Programme between 2007 and 2013. With a total value of nearly EUR 11 m, these initiatives address the challenges of multimodality, alternative bunker fuel, e-mobility, cross-border passenger ferry connections, oversize cargo transportation services, air transport accessibility, car sharing in rural areas as well as youth involvement in urban transport policies. How did cooperation influence the South Baltic transport arena over the last decade?  The BTJ 10th anniversary edition examines the milestones of Baltic transport evolution, giving credit to the merits of cross-border efforts across the shores of the Southern Baltic  Sea.
